Reading Quest 1
In our first reading of How We Decide, I found it very interesting that that the author of this book was so smart!!! He stated that whenever someone makes a decision, the brain is awash in feeling, driven by its inexplicable passions. This means that when a person tries to be reasonable, the emotional impulses secretly influence judgement. People tend to make sudden decisions based on what is happening in that moment. That got me to thinking about my own decisions that I choose to make whether it be something that I know I will have to have decided by next week or something that has to be decided right here, right now, in the moment. Am I thinking logically or am I making my decision based on what everyone else wants me to do (or what makes everyone else happy). Sometimes I catch myself making certain decisions just because I want to avoid a conflict or a fight. I think to myself, "in the long run I may not be as happy, but if they are happy then that is all that matters".
